If all goes according to reports, by the time Super LVI will be played in Inglewood, California, February 2022, the Vince Lombardi Trophy will be awarded to a quarterback who is not one, Tom Brady. That is because if those reports are to be believed, Brady will announce his retirement from football by the age of 44. Multiple generations will then have the opportunity to stand up and cheer, for they have witnessed the greatest football player of all times.
When one talks about Brady, his achievements on the field, the numerous records he has set – some of them will stand for a long, long time, if not forever – and especially the seven Super Bowl trophies he has won, comparisons to other quarterbacks must be made. Terry Bradshaw was the coolest cat around, Joe Montana was all elegant, Jim McMahon was crazy and smart at the same time, and the list goes on and on. Brady is simply the greatest of them all. Period. The man has taken a mid-level team in New England Patriots and has made a dynast out of them, winning six Super Bowls in the process. He then moved into perennial losers Tamba Bay Buccaneers and won another Super Bowl. No one but Brady could have written such a script.
